Belinda Stanley, CPC, CIC
Belinda Stanley founded Medical Asset Management, Inc. in 1993 as
an organization dedicated to education and training of individuals
in the healthcare field. Specifically, her objective was to raise
the level of expertise in an industry that relies heavily on non-clinical
personnel to perform duties such as coding, billing and reimbursement
management. She is also a Certified Professional Coder and received
this designation from the American Academy of Professional Coders
in 1995.
Ms. Stanley's career in the health care industry spans over twenty years. Her expertise as a Health Care Consultant for physicians, hospitals and practice management companies is derived from her background as a consultant for one of the Big 4 accounting firms and previous roles as Regional Claims Manager for one of the largest managed care companies in the nation, Group Claims Manager for a third-party administrator and a National Reimbursement Manager for a national physician practice management company.
She has quite an extensive background interpreting and implementing third-party payor regulations, specifically Medicare, Medicaid, commercial and managed care plans. She is a highly respected speaker at national conferences in her areas of expertise.
Ms. Stanley is also a co-founder of The National Medical Coding Institute in Atlanta, Georgia. This company offers the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) medical coding curriculum that prepares individuals for certification as a Professional Coder. She is also an approved instructor for the course. In addition to this course curriculum, other specialty coding courses are offered year round.
Medical Asset Management, Inc. provides health care consulting services, compliance reviews, performs audits and specialized pre and post-payment reviews, provides on-site multi-specialty training, offers annual interventional radiology and cardiology coding seminars and performs contract coding for all specialties. New product offerings are introduced each year to include books, coding reference materials and coding illustrations. As a multi-specialty firm, this company focuses on providing top quality services and products.

Gary Burns, MBA, RHIA, CIC
Mr. Burns joined Medical Asset Management, Inc., as a principal owner in November 1996. He is certified as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) by the American Health Information Management Association in 1985 and received his Masters of Business Administration degree (MBA) from Brenau University in Gainesville, GA., in 1993.
Previously, he was employed as Director of Reimbursement for a large physician billing and practice management company. In this role, he was responsible for physician billing compliance, training and auditing of medical coding field offices, developing a national medical coding training program to insure regulatory compliance, and assembling high level personnel to support operations in 350 physician billing locations.
Prior to that, he was Vice President of a Healthcare Reimbursement Management Consulting firm. For eight years he traveled to health care provider organizations across the country performing inpatient, outpatient, and physician medical coding and billing assessments. Also in this role, he coordinated and provided reimbursement consulting management services to both hospitals and physicians. Gary's accomplishments include developing and implementing audit programs that analyzed charge behavior, coding and validation of the accuracy with Intermediary and Carrier payments. He personally performed over 250 medical coding, medical billing and reimbursement assessments across the country. Each assessment included detailed training sessions to improve compliance with healthcare coding and billing regulations.
Prior to 1988, Gary was a Health Care Consultant for Coopers & Lybrand. In this role, he provided health information management services coupled with productivity analyses of several Medical Record Departments across the country. He accomplished several successful implementations and transitions of workflow management programs within the Health Information Management Departments.
Once graduating from the University of Pittsburgh and receiving his Health Information Management certification, he effectively managed Hospital Medical Record Departments in Pennsylvania and Florida in high level management positions as the Assistant Director and Director of Medical Records.
